Blue Mesa Fishing Report:

As of 4-14-20, the lake is just about 100% open water!  Unfortunately, the boat ramps are not open and on top of that, the lake is closed to ANY kind of boating or watercrafts!  This is in conjunction with the current County Health Ordinance/shelter in place order for Gunnison County that runs through April 30.  As of right now, the earliest the boat ramps on Blue Mesa will open is May 1st, but there will be some reevaluation at the end of April.  The Rotary club spring trout tournament has been canceled.  I’ve heard the marina will work on opening mid May, but this will depend on how thing play out in the next several weeks.

Shore fishing is open to Gunnison County residence and has been good for rainbow trout, brown trout, and the occasional lake trout!  A variety of baits are working including jerk baits, maribou jigs, tube jigs, kastmasters, and bait like worms and powerbait.

We hope that you all are staying healthy and doing well!  We hope and pray that things start to get back to normal in the next few weeks and look forward to seeing a lot of you all on the lake!
