Blue Mesa Opens to Boating April 15th!

Many of the lower elevation lakes have had open water for weeks, but we will finally have a boating option in the mountains when Blue Mesa’s Elk Creek ramp opens this Friday, April 15th from 7-4:30!  Blue Mesa is currently about 83′ low and at this point in time, with 99% snowpack, anticipated to come up 30 vertical feet over the summer.  How long it will hold at that elevation is unknown at this point.  Lake Powell is in dire straights and will be wanting another emergency release from Blue Mesa and Flaming Gorge most likely.  Whether or not this will happen remains to be decided.  Lake Fork boat ramp is useable around the elevation of 7448′ so the lake needs to rise at least 12′ for this to be a reality.  The Rotary Club trout tournament is scheduled for May 7 and 8 and appears to be happening.  Keep praying for some late-season snow and then lots of rain this summer!

Ice-off fishing offers some of the best fishing opportunities of the year!  We will be offering trout casting trips that yield 15-40+ fish days and some really nice rainbow and brown trout!  These trips are action-packed!  This is also THE BEST time of year to chase trophy lake trout out of the boat!  Some of the biggest lake trout in Blue Mesa will be looking to recoup calories lost over the winter!  Some days we will mix it up and do a combination of epic trout casting and then chase a trophy lake trout for the last part of the day.  If you want to get in on this awesome action, please call or text me today!  (970) 784-6555
