This is a great guided fishing trip to top off any Colorado Vacation! You will meet your guide at the Elk Creek or Lake Fork boat ramp on Blue Mesa Reservoir at either 6 a.m. or 1 p.m. depending on your start time. Be sure to bring sun block, a light lunch and beverages. The boat will have a cooler so you need not bring one. Pack all personal belongings in a backpack or similar sized bag and bring as little as possible. Blue mesa weather can be rainy and warm, or cold in the morning and hotter than a smoked kokanee in the afternoon. We offer a morning trip starting around 6 a.m. and an afternoon trip starting around 1 p.m. Full day trips last 6 hours or until you catch your limits. Possession of all bag limits is allowed so store a cooler in your vehicle for fillets as your guide will fillet and bag your fish for you!

*2017 salmon numbers are the best they have been in over a decade! We expect fantastic fishing for the 2017 season!

**As of 2016 daily bag limit is 5 kokanee per angler with 10 in possession!

This is the most sought after fishing window of the year!

Kokanee Jigging

Meet at the elk creek boat ramp around 8am. The trophy kokanee salmon give us a chance to catch up on our sleep. We motor right to the fishing grounds and start looking for big schools of quality kokanee salmon. This is the best way to experience trophy salmon fishing from a boat! As soon as we locate a good school, the fishing begins. The captain will put you on the fish, and then you drop your bait and hang on. These trips can be quick with your limit or lengthy with the hunt. Bring a lunch and beverages and a few items of clothing for adverse weather. Pack light to maximize deck space and leave a cooler with ice in your vehicle for salmon fillets. Possession of all bag limits is allowed!

**The new 2016 daily bag limit is 5 kokanee per angler with 10 in possession!

LAKE TROUT FISHING full day (Ice out - Early April to Late May)

$500.00 flat rate for up to three people for a 6 +hour trip(weather & fishing pending).

$290 flat rate for up to three people for a 3 hour trip (depending on the boat ramp hours)

Lake Trout

For our full day trips, plan on meeting at the Elk Creek or Lake Fork Marinas as early as boat ramp hours permit. Be prepared to fish 6+ hours in pursuit of your trophy. Or you can roll the dice in an attempt to get lucky on a 3 hour afternoon/evening trip! Bring warm clothes (an array of layers for freezing temps in the morning hours), food/ beverage, and a fishing license. This is trophy trout fishing with a quality over quantity mindset in an effort to catch the lake trout of a lifetime! Blue Mesa is home to the 50+ pound state record lake trout. There are no promises when hunting these elusive giants, but if successful, you will have a chance to get a length, weight, and photograph with your fish of your lifetime! We release all trophy lake trout over 22 inches to ensure opportunities for future generations. Our goal is to get 1-3 quality bites from trophy mackinaw lake trout each day, but occasionally we will catch rainbow and brown trout as well. These trips require focus and will test your patience and skill but the reward is an experience that some people pay thousands of dollars to experience in Canada!

Try to meet as early as you can at the designated location or the lake city bridge for Guided Fly Fishing. If you live in Gunnison County or near Lake City, Colorado and want to experience a fishing guide trip on your Colorado vacation this a great one for the time, money and FISH involved! Bring all the gear you have for wading/river fishing. Waders, rods, vests, reels, raincoat are all things to bring if you have them; if not, we will provide you with what you will need for a day of fly fishing. You will meet your guide near the lake city bridge where the Gunnison river meets Blue Mesa Reservoir and begins your trip where the fishing has been the strongest. Your guide will outfit you with the hatch of the day, instruction and any other help such as netting fish and taking pictures. Most fish will be released to protect the populations of trophy and soon-to-be trophy trout that live and migrate in the Gunnison River. Exceptions (within your legal limit) will be made for smaller fish that make a great dinner. Pack a lunch as we may use the boat to access our fly fishing location.

It’s cold, and dark and icy! But with Ice Fishing the bite can be red hot with trophy fish swimming right under your feet in a national park known for Trophy Trout Fishing! So dress as warm as possible, and bring a thermos of something warm. Our guides fish the lake up and down trying locate schools of rainbow trout, kokanee salmon, yellow perch, brown trout, and lake trout, so the meeting place can be anywhere on Blue Mesa. Sometimes we will simply walk to the fishing grounds and other times we will take snowmobiles out to distant hot spots. These trips are usually 6 hour trips with peak activity occurring 7am to 12pm. A day of ice fishing is great for the price of a guided fishing trip; you may catch a 1 pound rainbow trout or a 20 pound laker!
